Frequently
Asked Questions
Question: Are you open during the winter?
Answer:
Yes we are open all winter. See our Specials page for full information about the winter. Our bed and breakfast is a great
place to stay when taking in a Show at the Casino Rama which is only 6 minutes away by car. We do have snow shoes for
guests to use or you can bring your own cross country skiis and use either on the lake or Tudhope Park. For track set skiing,
Hardwood Hills and Horseshoe Valley are less than 30 minutes away. This is also a comfortable home to relax in and "catch
up with your partner"! Also it is a good place for business travellers to stay with many office facilities including
WiFi, a laptop, copying and fax facilities.
Question: What is there to do in Orillia?
Answer:We have a guide for 7 or 8 days of tours in and around Orillia. Just email us and we will send you a copy.
Orillia is in the centre of Ontario and a wonderful part of the Province, lakes, highlands, beaches, Central Ontario towns
and villages can all be covered by daily trips out. Orillia has it's own Opera House, a thriving Museaum of Art and History
and it's own Leacock Museum - the former summer cottage of the Author Stephen Leacock. The Canadian Shield starts about 10
kilometres north of Orillia.
Question: Do we have our own bathroom?
Answer: Yes. The King
and Queen Rooms have en suite bathrooms with showers. The Twin Room has a large private four-piece bathroom with tub and shower
and grab rails for elderly people.
Question: Is the house and neighbourhood quiet and safe?
Answer: The bedrooms have sound insulation in the walls and are very quiet. The neighbourhood
is very safe and quiet. We are a dead end street. However, the night the Mariposa Festival is on in Tudhope Park you get a
to hear the concert free from outside if the wind is in the right direction!
Question: Can we drink
the water?
Answer: Yes - no worries! We are on City water supply and sewers.
We have plenty of hot water and high pressure in the taps. All our bath faucets are "scald guard" which prevents
hot and cold surges from other users. The kitchen fridge has ice and filtered water on the door.
Question:
Is breakfast included in the rate?
Answer: Yes. It certainly is and the menu is right in this site –
go to the "Our Menu" tab at the left.
Question: Do we need to bring towels and bedding?
Answer: Absolutely no! Excellent quality towels and linens are all supplied. Beds and mattresses are newly
bought specifically for the B&B. Also at Betty and Tony’s, shampoo, soaps, shower gel, cotton balls, shower caps,
lotions, etc are all supplied.
Question: Do we have to stay in our room all the time we are in the house?
Answer: Absolutely not. We encourage our guests to use our home. We have a "Great Room" overlooking
the water and gardens, a library with a fire place, books, movies and a 42" flat screen HDTV with a DVD.
There is also the Snuggery reserved for guests where a buffet is set up for 24 hour beverages, a fridge, table and comfortable
chairs, snacks and CHOCOLATE CAKES! Concierge items such as razors, tooth brushes and sun screen are complimentary and available.
Outside, guests enjoy our deck, patio or waterfront, which is beautifully landscaped and has colourful flowerbeds. Our
docks were all upgraded in the Fall of 2005 and are ready to be enjoyed.
Question: Is there a curfew?
Answer: No. We give you a front door key and encourage you to come and go as you wish. We ask you to come
in quietly if you are late in consideration of other guests.
Question: Do we have to leave after breakfast
and not return until the evening if we are staying more than one day?
Answer: No. We like to see our guests
enjoy our property, which has many of the attractions of a resort. There is a canoe and paddleboat for guests to use. Swimming
is fine from the dock as is fishing. There are bikes and we also have an electric scooter seniors can borrow to allow you
full use of the 9 kilometer Millennium Trail system which starts close by. A shallow swimming beach is at the top of the road
in Tudhope Park. Nothing is nicer than a relaxing day in the Adirondack chairs in either shade or sun with a beverage of choice
in hand and a good book. Please note we do make up rooms at about 11:00.
Question: What is check in and
check out time?
Answer: Unless by previous arrangement we ask guests to check in before 1:00 or after
5:00. This allows us time to go shopping or get out in the afternoon. Checking in before 1:00 allows guests to take advantage
of the facilities for the afternoon. Check out time from the room is 11:00 – this gives us time to prepare the room
for incoming guests. You are quite welcome to stay in the gardens longer and there is an “anybodies” washroom
on the main floor.
Question: Can we dock our boat on the dock and can we leave our trailer on the property?
Answer: Yes to both. We have 80’ of deep and safe waterfront, which is very sheltered. We have room
